EDWARD ALDEN GILCHREST
MILO - Edward Alden Gilchrest, 85, husband of Hilda (Hoxie) Gilchrest, died Oct. 23, 2002, at a Dover-Foxcroft nursing home. He was born June 12, 1917, in York, the son of Alden and Agnes (Voudy) Gilchrest. Mr. Gilchrest served with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers during World War II. A graduate of Wentworth Institute, he worked as a building contractor until 1973, when he retired and moved to Milo. He was a member of St. Aspinquid Lodge No. 198 AF & AM and Raboni Chapter, the United Baptist Church of Milo, and an honorary member of the Milo Fire Department.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Hilda of Milo; a brother, Kenneth of St. Petersburg, Pa.; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, George; and a sister, Pauline Hall.

Friends are invited to call 4 p.m. until time of service at 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 25, 2002, at the Lary Funeral Home, Milo, with the Rev. Ernest Madden officiating, followed by a Masonic service conducted by the Piscataquis Lodge No. 44. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
