ELAINE M. OVERLOCK
NEWPORT – Elaine M. Overlock, 73, passed away after a long illness on October 1, 2007 at a Pittsfield hospital surrounded by her family. She was born November 14, 1933 in Charleston a daughter of Alden and Mary (Ryan) Marshall. Elaine married Leo Overlock on December 2, 1950. She lived most of her life in Newport, enjoyed hunting and fishing in the great outdoors, and feeding her neighborhood birds, squirrels and all other animals in between. She also enjoyed travel, especially their trip to Europe in the 1980’s.

In addition to her husband of nearly 57 years, she is survived by 2 daughters, Joyce and husband Clifford Lones of Newport and Emily and husband Merle Goodridge (T Sgt, USAF, Ret.) of North Pole, Alaska; 2 grandchildren, SSGT-USAF Ryan and wife Nicole Goodridge of Andrews AFB, MD and Heather and husband SSGT-USAR Wesley Woods of Ft. Lewis, WA; 4 great grandchildren, Dylan, Taylor, Christian and Hunter; many sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Elaine was a favorite “Auntie Lane” to Mary (Palmer) and husband Donald Sabins, Sonja (Palmer) Violette, and Terrance and wife Tanya Palmer. She was predeceased by her parents, step-father Earl Gifford; sister, Joyce (Berry) and husband Linwood “Pete” Palmer, a very special uncle Alfred “Uncle Allie” McCorrison, and a recently deceased cousin, Edwin A. Ryan, Jr. on September 28.
