DEXTER- Elaine R. Salley, 70, passed away December 19, 2007, at a Dover-Foxcroft hospital, after a period of declining health. Elaine then worked for Dexter Shoe Company until the birth of her son in 1967, at which time she took some time off. She returned to Dexter Shoe on the night crew and stayed there until the night crew was shut down in 1980. John and Elaine purchased Dexter Flooring Shop which they operated for several years. Elaine also worked as an Avon representative for 25 years.

Elaine was well known for her art of knitting, making many hats, mittens, scarves, and especially baby sweaters, hats and booties. She also enjoyed many summers, and bonfires at their camp on Wassookeag Lake.
