OBITUARIES

ELDRED L. HARRINGTON
Eldred L. Harrington PARKMAN AND SANGERVILLE, Eldred L. Harrington, 87, passed away peacefully at his son’s home in Dixmont on February 1, 2006. Eldred was born in Sangerville on June 22, 1918. He worked for many years for Fay Scott Co. in Dexter and retired from Keyes Fibre Co. in Waterville where he was employed as a mechanical engineer. He was a veteran of WWII and was stationed at Great Ashfield in England for much of the war. During his tour of duty he was in radio communications assigned to the 385th Heavy Bombardment Group. He also was on active duty during the Korean War and was stationed for a time in Japan. Prior to being drafted during WWII, he was in the Merchant Marines. He was a member of the Stott- Flanders American Legion Post #165 and the Abner Wade Masonic Lodge in Sangerville. For many years he and his sons operated a Christmas tree farm based in Sangerville and was a member of the Maine Christmas-Tree Growers Association. After his retirement, he was active in the Sangerville Historical Society.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Irene G. Harrington, and was predeceased by his eldest son, Michael H. Harrington of Bradford. Michael’s widow, Mercer Harrington, of Corinth also survives him along with her daughter, Angelina Bosowicz and her husband, Jason, and their daughter, Morgan, of Billings, Montana, and Mercer’s son, Corey Cowperthwaite, and his wife, Michelle, of Corinth. He is also survived by his son Patrick G. Harrington and his wife Marcia and two grandchildren, Jayson and Shanara, all of Daytona Beach, Florida; and his son, Allen L. Harrington, and his wife, Jessica, of Dixmont; several cousins, Malcolm Herring, Mary Sally, Neola Davis, and George “Bud” Allen; numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 PM, Sunday, February 5, 2006, at Crosby & Neal, 21 Oak Street in Guilford. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Monday, at the funeral home, with Pastor David Kelly officiating. Spring burial will be in the Jackman Corner Cemetery in Sangerville.
