ELLEN PERKINS
Ellen PerkinsABBOT- Ellen Perkins, 72 , beloved wife of George Perkins, Sr., passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 24, 2008 at Mayo Regional hospital in Dover-Foxcroft. Ellen was born December 19, 1935 in Norwich, Connecticut, the oldest daughter of Newell Palmer Rist and Dorothea (Stevens) Rist.

She graduated from Norwich Free Academy on June 14, 1955, and was married a few hours later to her childhood sweetheart.

She is survived by her husband of 52 years and her four children and their families, Deborah and Mike Wasilewski of Harmony, Maine, Gloria Perkins of Bangor, Maine, the Rev. George and Kay Perkins of Stetson, Maine, and Shane and Rose Perkins of Parkman, Maine. She also leaves seventeen grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Barbara Calkins of Preston, CT and Irma Smith of St. Johnsbury, VT.

Ellen traveled for many years in both this country as well as in Europe, while her husband was in the Army. They settled in Maine following his retirement. She then worked for Pride Manufacturing, retiring from there. Not wishing to completely retire, she took a job at the Sangerville library.

Ellen loved her music and was the organist for the Guilford Center Baptist Church for many years. To honor her wishes, she will be buried in Preston, CT, near her parents and grandparents at a later date.

Memorial services will be held at 10 AM Friday, February 29th, at the Guilford Center Baptist Church, with Pastor Grover White officiating. Friends may visit from 9 AM until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the Guilford Center Baptist Church or Pine Tree Hospice.
