OBITUARIES
EVELYN A. CHAPMAN
DEXTER, Evelyn A. Chapman, 73, died peacefully October 1, 2007 at a Dover-Foxcroft hospital after a long illness. She was born March 10, 1934 in Ripley, the daughter of Charles and L. Doreen (Jones) Sevey. Evelyn was born and grew up in Ripley, graduating from Dexter High School in 1953. In November 1953 she married Arthur Chapman of Ripley. She began working for SAD #46 as a school bus driver in 1974 until her retirement in 1990 for health reasons. Evelyn loved being a school bus driver for 15+ years and took great pride in her job, especially her love for children. Evelyn enjoyed cooking and taking care of her family. She also enjoyed crafts, crocheting, playing cards, and spending time with family and friends.
She is survived by 2 sons, James A. and his wife Karen of Dover-Foxcroft, and Galen E. and his wife Kelly of Dexter; 4 grandchildren, Nikki, Michelle, Matthew, and Ashley; 3 sisters, twin Ethelyn Mountain of Dexter, Dorothy Huff of Dexter, and Seretha Sevey of Dexter; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Evelyn was predeceased by her husband Arthur in April 2007 after nearly 54 years of marriage; parents Charles and Doreen Sevey; sisters, Shirley Philbrick and Mary Chabot, and infant twin siblings, Charles and Charlene Sevey.
