FRANCES E. HATHAWAY
ST. ALBANS & TROY, Frances E. Hathaway, 85, died December 29, 2001 at a Pittsfield hospital. She was born November 25, 1916 in Troy, the daughter of Herbert and Lizzie (Penny) Walker. She lived in Troy for many years where she cooked at the school and helped her husband on their farm. While in Troy, she was a member of the Fireman's Auxiliary and the Farm Bureau. Later she worked for eleven years at the Hinckley Goodwill School, and was a member of the Shawmut Baptist Chapel.

In November of this year, Frances was predeceased by her husband of 66 years, Ray M. Hathaway. She was also predeceased by two sisters, Natalie Fuller and Gertrude Ward, and two brothers, Mervin and Frank Walker. She is survived by a son and his wife, Clifton and Maxine Hathaway of Dexter; a daughter and her husband, Edna and Ralph Flagg of Dixmont; a brother, Ronald Walker of Hartland; a sister and her husband, Mary and Preston Sergeant of Palmyra; 10 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be omitted at her request. Graveside services will be held in the Spring at the Rogers Cemetery in Troy. Memorial donations may be made to Shawmut Chapel, P.O. Box 222, Shawmut, ME 04975. Arrangements by Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, Newport.
