FRANK C. MITCHELL, SR.
ETNA - Frank C. Mitchell, Sr., 76, died peacefully April 29, 2005 in his sleep at home with his loved ones by his side. He was born May 2, 1928 at Skowhegan, the son of Orie and Respah (Luce) Mitchell. He was educated in Skowhegan and Canaan schools. Frank was employed at the H. P. Hood and W. H. Gorham Companies for many years. He was also a self-employed drywaller and a painter, and loved that the most. Frank enjoyed camping with his wife Barbara, fishing, and hunting – no deer was safe! His greatest love was his family; his six children – whom he loved dearly—each in a special way.

He leaves behind his children, Edward M. and wife Jessica Cole of Surry, Virginia B. Fitts of Carmel, Respah H. and husband Allen Graves, Frank C. Mitchell, Jr. and his fiancée Jackie, Martha M. and husband John Parlee, all of Etna, Chavala D. and Michael Lessard of Sullivan; a sister, Sheilia Matthews of Pittsfield; a very special companion, Louise McCutcheon of Etna. He was a special Papa to 17 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren; and 1 great great grandchild. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews; special friends, Mike and Jennie Young and Billy and Lena McKenney; as well as Nurse Helena. Frank was predeceased by his wife Barbara V. in 2000; 7 brothers, 3 sisters, and a son-in-law, Bruce Fitts, Sr. in 1990.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. Sunday, at the Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 117 Main Street, Newport, where funeral services will be held 2 P.M. Monday, May 2nd with the Rev. Matthew Ward officiating. Burial will be in the family lot, Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Etna.
