FRANK MELVIN LEIGHTON
Frank Melvin Leighton GLENBURN - Frank Melvin Leighton, 70, of Broadway, Glenburn, died unexpectedly Jan. 13, 2005, as the result of a pedestrian accident. He was born Feb. 13, 1934, in Lincoln, the son of Eugene Simpson and Vanonia Maude (Gesner) Leighton. Frank grew up in Lincoln and was a graduate of Bangor High School. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, a member of the Kenduskeag Lodge No. 137 AF & AM of Kenduskeag, Scottish Rite Bodies Valley of Bangor, Maine Consistory 32nd Degree Anah Shriners and was a member of the Provost Guard. He was also a member and Past Patron for 10 consecutive years of the Good Samaritan Chapter O.E.S. of Kenduskeag, now Katahdin Chapter No. 124 of Old Town, a member of the D.A.V. and the Eagles Club of Brewer.

Surviving are his loving wife of 42 years, Gloria M. (Lyons) Leighton; three children, Glenna M. Burleigh and her husband, Glenn Jr., Randy K. Leighton and his wife, Aimee, Deanna Stout and her fiance, Dennis Robinson, all of Glenburn; five loveable grandchildren, who will miss him, Glenn III, Joshua Frank, Angela Burleigh, Jacob K. and Desiree K. Leighton; two loveable pets, Molly and Toby, who will miss him severely; brothers and sisters, George Leighton and his wife, Louise, William Leighton and his wife, Jenny, all of Lincoln, Orville "Zeke" Leighton and his wife, Ella, of Brewer, Patricia Leighton of Lincoln, James E. Leighton and his wife, Patricia, of Bangor, Mary (Leighton) Gaudreau and her husband, Donald, of Hermon; several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Ruby Snyder; a brother, Garland R. Leighton.

Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 17, 2005 at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. A service for the family only will be held Tuesday at the family home, Broadway, Glenburn, with the Rev. Cynthia Nickerson, pastor of the Corinth United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment with military honors will be held Wednesday at the Maine Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, Mount Vernon Road, Augusta. Those who wish to remember Frank in a special way may make gifts in his memory to the Shrine Hospital for Children, care of Anah Shriners, PO Box 735, Bangor, ME 04401.
