FRANK TIRRELL KNAUT
WINSLOW and DOVER-FOXCROFT - Frank Tirrell Knaut, 53, went home to be with the Lord, June 7, 2005, after a courageous battle with leukemia. He was born Feb. 17, 1952, in Dover-Foxcroft, the son of Paul A. and Elizabeth (Southworth) Knaut Jr. Frank, a graduate of Foxcroft Academy and University of Maine, Orono, was a chemical engineer who worked in the paper industry for 31 years. An avid outdoor enthusiast, Frank enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and tending to his land in Garland. Frank also enjoyed photography and playing tenor saxophone in the Foxcroft Academy Alumni Dance Band. Frank always gave lovingly and freely to church and community. He served as school board chairman of MSAD 67 and a trustee of Foxcroft Academy.

Frank is survived by beloved wife of 31 years, Valerie (Sodermark) Knaut; a daughter, Jennifer and husband, Scott Hoenig, and a son, Jason Knaut. He is also survived by his father, a brother, Paul Allen Knaut III, and his wife, Loretta and a sister, Cynthia Knaut; many nephews and nieces. Frank had an extraordinary way of touching peoples' hearts and lives and was always willing to lend a helping hand or share a kind word.

Relatives and friends may 5-8 p.m. Friday, June 10, 2005, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. A celebration of Frank's life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Dover-Foxcroft Congregational Church, Main Street, Dover-Foxcroft. Gifts in his memory may be sent to a charity of one's choice.
