OBITUARIES

FREDERICK C. LUDDEN
DETROIT—Frederick C. Ludden, SMSGT/RET, 68, died March 18, 2007 at a Waterville hospital. He was born October 28, 1939 in Plymouth, the son of Lloyd G. and Beulah E. (Stevenson) Ludden. Fred attended school and graduated from Newport High School, Class of 1957. He entered the military service in 1957, serving in the United States Marine Corps, Maine Army National Guard and the Maine Air National Guard for a total of 38 plus years.

He attended many service schools during this time. As a member of the Maine Air National Guard he served as a full time technician and active duty Security Policeman from 1971 until he retired as the Superintendent of Security Forces in 1997. He was a member of the Air Force Sergeants Association, the Retired Enlisted Association, a life member of the Enlisted Association of the National Guard of the United States, and the High Street Congregational Church in Newport.

He was a past member of the National Rifle Association. He was a member of the Newport Fire Department and a reserve officer of the Newport Police Department for a number of years. As a Penobscot County Sheriff, one of his proudest achievements was the training and certification of his German Shepard, Kim as a PD-1 K-9.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and being outdoors.

He is survived by his everloving wife and companion of 43 years, Carole of Detroit; a daughter, Denise and husband, Richard of Caribou; a loving sister, Linda Breitweg of Newport; 5 grandchildren, Jessica, Hailey, Gregory, Riley, and Lauren; a step grandchild, George; a nephew, Jason and wife Daniela of Germany; and 2 nieces, Kelly and Shelly and their families of Dover, Delaware. He was predeceased by his parents, a brother, George and a son, Greg.

Friends may call 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M., Tuesday, March 20th at Crosby & Neal, 117 Main Street, Newport, where funeral services will be held 10 A.M. Wednesday with Pastor Al H. Worden officiating. Spring burial will be in Sawyer Cemetery, Plymouth.

DETROIT- Graveside committal services for Fred Ludden, who died March 18, 2007 will be held 1 PM, Wednesday, May 16th, at Sawyer Cemetery, Plymouth, with Pastor Al H. Worden officiating. Full military honors will be accorded by the Maine Air National Guard Security Force in Bangor, from which he retired as Superintendent in 1997. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal, Newport.
