GENE RICHARD JOHNSON
SANGERVILLE - Gene Richard Johnson passed away Sept. 17, 2006, surrounded by his family at C.A. Dean Hospital after a long illness. He was born May 21, 1932, in Readfield. Gene owned and operated Sears Roebuck, Dover-Foxcroft for many years. He was also a Korean War veteran. He enjoyed traveling with the National Order of Rainbow Girls all over the United States, his farm, camp and riding his special horse, Mr. T. Gene was an avid flyer for many years with his club. He was a Mason of the Abner Way Lodge of Sangerville and was a foster parent for many years making a large extended family. He always had a soft spot for any animal in need of a home.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Myrna; three daughters, Lori-Jean Bishop and husband, Tim, Lynn Davis and husband, Danny, Leisha MacDougall and husband, Andy; one son, Lance Johnson and wife, Lorie; grandsons, Michael and wife, Erica, Travis Marshall and Mitchell Nuite; granddaughters, Robyn Jones and husband, Adam, Sierra Murray, Lindsey Campbell, Layla and Laura Morse, one great-granddaughter, Sidney-Jean Marshall. He was predeceased by his mother, Mable (Johnson) Soucier in 1998; and brother, Michael Soucier in 1969.

A memorial service will be held 5 p.m. Sept. 21, at the Grace Bible Church, Sangerville. In lieu of flowers, the family has made a request of donations to Mable J. Deshon Scholarship Fund, care of Marsha Keenan, 24 Lincoln St., Ellsworth, ME 04605 or the Grace Bible Church Building Fund of Sangerville. Arrangements by Cremation Basics Inc., Bangor.
