Georgia (Cookson) Knowlton
NEWPORT – Georgia (Cookson) Knowlton, 95, died January 22, 2012 at a Pittsfield health care facility. She was born September 12, 1916 in Dexter, a daughter of George and Eva (Clukey) Cookson. She moved to Pittsfield with her family at a young age. Georgia was a communicant of St. Agnes Catholic Church, and retired from C. M. Almy, both in Pittsfield.

Georgia was predeceased by her husband Burns Knowlton, Sr.; a son, Burns, Jr., who was killed in Vietnam; 5 brothers Phillip, Norman, Galen, Wilbur and Alfred Cookson; and 2 sisters, Beulah and Beatrice.

She is survived by several nieces and nephews, including Nancy Pomeroy of Newport.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 AM Thursday, January 26th, at St. Agnes Church, 238 Detroit Avenue, Pittsfield, with the Rev. Fr. Paul Murray officiating.
