OBITUARIES

Grace S. (Curtis) Pushor
ETNA - Grace S. (Curtis) Pushor, 84, died March 9, 2012, at a Bangor nursing home. She was born in Dexter, February 29, 1928, a daughter of Frank and Chastie (Hall) Curtis, and was brought up in the home of Perley and Agnes Sylvester of Etna.

Grace graduated from Carmel High School and Gorham State Teacher's College with a degree in education. She married Merton Pushor of Exeter, and traveled to many places with him while he was in the service. She taught school in North Carolina, Germany, Bangor, Hartland, Etna, Dixmont, Carmel, Levant, and the Newport school systems. Settling in Newport, she and Bruce raised her children, 2 boys and a girl. She retired from teaching and later went back to substitute teaching, and working for State programs in the school systems in Etna, Carmel and Levant.

She was predeceased by her husband of many years, Merton B. Pushor, in 1998 and her oldest son, Curtis A. Pushor in 1997.

She is survived by a daughter, Monica Horr and husband, Mark of Etna; a son, Bruce Pushor and wife, Cora of Orland; 9 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Thursday, March 15, 2012, at Crosby & Neal, 117 Main Street, Newport, with Associate Pastor John Mills officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 to 8 PM Wednesday. Spring burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Etna.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 383 US Route One, Suite 2C, Scarborough, ME 04074.
