HAROLD E. FRENCH
MONSON, Harold E. French, 78, died May 27, 2001 in Abbot. He was born May 24, 1923 in Abbot, son of Frank and Marguerite (Bickford) French. He served in the US Army during WWII in the Pacific Theater. While in the Army he contracted Polio and was disabled for the rest of his life. For many years he drove the school bus and loved his association with the kids as he drove them to their various activities. He had a great love for animals and enjoyed his home on Lake Hebron.

He is survived by his wife, Althea (Haggstrom) French of Monson; his mother of Guilford; a son and his wife, James and Sherry French of Guilford; a daughter Nancy Taylor of Dover-Foxcroft; five grandchildren, and two great grandchildren, Julie and her husband Ed and their son, Gannon all of Presque Isle, James E. and his wife Kristen of Guilford, Kristen and her friend, Stefan of Park City, Utah, Laura L. and her friend Barry of Randolph, Mass., Daniel and Rosa and daughter, Tianna all of Sebec; a step grandson, Jerod Edes of Guilford; a niece; several nephews; special family members, Paul and Joyce Allen of Monson. He was predeceased by a son, Daniel Elwin French.

Friends may call 6-8 PM Wednesday at the Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 21 Oak St., Guilford. Funeral services will be held at 1 PM Thursday at the funeral home with Pastor Daryl Witmer officiating. Burial will be in the Hillside Cemetery in Monson. Those who wish may make donations in his memory to the Animal Shelter at Sherman's Veterinarian Service, P.O. Box 418, Dover-Foxcroft, ME 04426.
