HAROLD S. HUGHES, SR.
CARMEL – Harold S. Hughes, Sr., 86, died July 16, 2006 at a Bangor healthcare facility. He was born January 8, 1920 at Mapleton a son of Enoch and Lula (Scribner) Hughes. He served in the U. S. Navy aboard the U. S. S. Bell during World War II. Harold was a member of the Jubilee Family Worship Center in Newport, the Carmel American Legion, and the Good Sam Club. He retired as a diesel electrician for the Maine Central Railroad. He will be remembered as an avid hunter and fisherman. Harold was predeceased by his first wife, Hazel L. Hughes in 1998; and by his second wife, Mavis Bragg Hughes in 2005.

He is survived by 2 sons, Harold S. Hughes, Jr. of Carmel and Anthony “Sam” Hughes of Skowhegan; 2 daughters, Elois “Lois” Gagliardo of Newport, and Susan Bruce of Maryland; 3 brothers, Manfred and Sheldon Hughes, both of Rome, New York, and Donald Hughes of California; a sister, Dorothy Lawrence of Bronx, New York; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, including a special nephew, Marvin Graves of Carmel.

Funeral services will be held 11 AM Wednesday, July 19th, at the Jubilee Family Worship Center (Newport Full Gospel Church). Friends may call at the church from 10 AM until the time of services. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Carmel. Those who wish may make memorial donations to the Jubilee Family Worship Center, P. O.
