OBITUARIES

HARVEY LELAND BURNHAM
CORINNA – Harvey Leland Burnham, 84, died February 1, 2008 at a Pittsfield nursing home. He was born May 22, 1923 in St. Albans a son of Myron and Caroline (Tyler) Burnham. He graduated from Corinna Union Academy and served in the U. S. Army as a glider pilot during World War II.

He was a member of the Shirley B. Carter Post VFW and was a former member of the American Legion and the Corinna Grange.

Harvey was also a licensed pilot. He had worked at Banton Brothers Mill in Newport and retired from Walpole Manufacturing in 1993. He will also be remembered as a longtime Boy Scout leader in Corinna.

Harvey and his wife, Marjorie (Bennett) celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on Christmas Day 2007.

In addition to his wife of Corinna, he is survived by 2 sons, Leland and wife Shawn Burnham of Cardville, Lloyd Burnham of Corinna; a daughter, Linda and husband James Stevens of Stetson; 12 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren.

Friends may call from 4-8 PM Monday at Crosby & Neal, 117 Main Street, Newport. A graveside funeral and committal service will be held 1 PM Thursday, May 22nd. at the Nutter Cemetery, Corinna.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Foundation, 80 Elm Street, Portland, ME 04101

A graveside committal service with military honors for Harvey Burnham, who died February 1, 2008, will be held at 1 PM Thursday, May 22nd, at Nutter Cemetery, Corinna. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal Funeral Chapel, Corinna.
