HERBERT HARRISON GRAVES, SR. Herbert was a self-employed woodsman and farmer. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, gardening and camping. Herbert was a kind, gentle man. He loved his family, family gatherings, and was an inspiration to all who knew him. In addition to his wife of 67 years, he is survived by 10 children, Ruth and husband Jerry Appleby of Fort Walton Beach, Florida, Ronald of Detroit, Allen, Sr. and wife Respah of Etna, Sandra and husband Bruce Harris of Dixmont, Marilyn and husband Jay Smith of Dixmont, Elizabeth and husband Marvin Lane of Etna, Wanda Smith and her companion Floyd “Sandy” Sanborn of Carmel, Wilma and husband Gary Wolford of Etna, Michael of Newport, Marsha and husband Scott McConnell of Etna; a brother, Kenneth Graves of Etna; 2 sisters, Gladys Merrill of Newport, and Maxine Harding of Stetson; 25 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by 2 sons, Herbert Harrison Graves, Jr. and Calvin Sr. Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Monday at Crosby & Neal, 117 Main Street, Newport, where funeral services will be held 1 P.M. Tuesday, November 29th, with the Rev. Kenneth Graves officiating.
