OBITUARIES

JAMES E. COULTER JR.
DEXTER - James E. Coulter Jr., 81, died Oct. 19, 2005, at his home in Dexter. He was born Dec. 25, 1923, in Brewer, the son of James and Mary (Taylor) Coulter Sr. During World War II he served the in U.S. Army, in Guadalcanal, New Guinea, the Northern Solomons, and Luzon. He was a life member of the VFW in Brewer. Following the war he worked as a heavy equipment operator for many years. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and loved animals.

He is survived by a special friend, Katherine Fox of Dexter; four nephews, John Hand of Bangor, Robert Coulter, Rodney Coulter and Richard Coulter, all of Winterport; five nieces, Judith Giles of Florida, Mary Ellen Fernald of Bucksport, Joyce Philbrick of Winterport, Janice Warman of New Hampshire, and Sandy Manning of Winterport. He was predeceased by a brother, Robert; and a sister, Norma Lawson.

A graveside memorial service will be held noon Thursday, Oct. 27, at the Maple Grove Cemetery, Pushaw Road, Bangor. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make donations to the Brewer VFW, Post 4917, 235 Center St., Brewer, ME 04412. Arrangements by Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, Dexter.
