JANIE A. HURD
Jane Alice Hurd DOVER-FOXCROFT - Jane Alice Hurd, 60, wife of Daniel O. Hurd Jr., died June 14, 2006, at her summer residence on Sebec Lake after a lengthy illness. Janie was born Jan. 24, 1946, in Bangor, the daughter of Percy and Sarah Louise (Pinkham) Ward. Janie loved to spend time at her camp on Sebec Lake where she spent many hours sunbathing, as she loved the sun. She also enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, making afghans and noon time breakfasts out. Janie also enjoyed buying many treasures at the Thursday auctions, as well as shopping with her best friend and sister, Valerie. Janie will be remembered for her warm, easy laughter and her giving heart.

She is survived by her loving husband, Daniel O. Hurd Jr. of Dover-Foxcroft; her mother, Sarah Louise Ward and her close friend, Carl Mitchell, of Corinth; her dear sister and best friend, Valerie Grant and husband, Terry, of Corinth; her aunt, Anna Pinkham of Corinth, who was like a mother to her; two sons, Scott M. Tilton and his wife, Melanie, of Hermon and Kevin B. Tilton and his wife, Catherine, of Corinth; a daughter, Jo Weston and her husband, Jason; as well as a stepson, Daniel Hurd III, both of Dover-Foxcroft; 11 grandchildren, Meagan, Emily, Elise, Meganne, Caid, Noah, Benjamin, Brandon, Brooke, Danielle and Billie-jo; two special nieces, Terri Jane Casavant and her husband, Donnie, and Wanda Grant-Poulin and her husband, Gabe; a special nephew, Jason Grant and his wife, Kati, and their children, Kaitlynn, Grant, Gage, Gabrielle, Britni, Bayley and Owen, all of Corinth.

She was predeceased by her father, Percy Ward. Janie also leaves behind her dog, Molly, her special friend and companion. Friends and family may call 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at the Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home, 45 Western Ave., Hampden.

A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at the Corinth United Methodist Church, 275 Main St., Corinth, with the Rev. Cynthia C. Nickerson, pastor and the Rev. Robert T. Carlson officiating. Interment will be private in Corinthian Cemetery, Corinth.
