Joseph Edward Layfield He was a veteran of the Vietnam War having served with the 25th Infantry Division, stationed in CuCHi. He served honorably and received 2 bronze stars with Oak Leaf Clusters for his brave service to his country, and was awarded a Purple Heart for injuries sustained in battle. He also served as a member of the Philadelphia National Guard for an additional 10 years.
Joseph is survived by his wife of 44 years, Lorraine (Edwards) Layfield; his daughter Lisa Layfield; grandson Joseph Layfield; and sister Joy Layfield, all of Dexter. He was one of 7 children, including the late John Layfield, his surviving brother Jerome Layfield, the late James Layfield, his surviving brother Jay Layfield, the late Jeffrey Layfield, and their spouses, Kathy, Sandy, Debra, and Pat; 17 nieces and nephews; 20 great nieces and nephews; numerous cousins, aunts, uncles and dear family friends. There will be no services. The family asks that no flowers or mass cards be sent.
