OBITUARIES

LYDIA E. EMERY
ST. ALBANS, Lydia E. Emery, 87, died December 25, 2005, at a Portland nursing home. She was born August 3, 1918, in St. Albans, a daughter of Charles and Nena (Nichols) Ross. Lydia graduated from Goodwill High School, class of 1937, and attended Beal’s Business College in Bangor. She was a member of the St. Albans Union Church, and the ENCORE Group (Cancer Survivors Support Group) of Sebasticook Valley Hospital. She worked for 30 years as a stitcher at several of the local shoe shops. Lydia enjoyed fishing, snowmobiling, and music, but her first love was writing poetry.

She is survived by 3 sons, Duane Emery of Lebanon, Tennessee, Larry Emery of Arlington, Virginia, and Barry Emery of Locust Grove, Georgia; 7 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Durward Emery in 1989.

Funeral services will be held in the spring at the St. Albans Union Church with burial in the Village Cemetery in St. Albans. Funeral services for Lydia Emery will be held 10:30 AM Monday, May 15th, at the St. Albans Union Church with Pastor Leonard Reiss officiating. Burial will follow at the St. Albans Village Cemetery. The family invites relatives and friends back to the church after the committal for refreshments at the church fellowship hall. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal, Newport.
