OBITUARIES

MARGARET "PEGGY" MEAKIN
CORINNA - Margaret "Peggy" Meakin, 88, died May 12, 2010 at a Pittsfield health care facility. She was born January 21, 1922 at Caribou, a daughter of Walter and Yvonne (Derosier) Violette. After moving to Corinna at a young age, Peggy attended Corinna Union Academy, and later received her GED diploma from Nokomis Regional High. Peggy and her husband lived in East Hartford, CT for over 30 years, returning to Corinna in 1970. During World War II, she worked for Hamilton Standard Propellers, and later, Olivetti Underwood Typewriter Company. She retired from Dexter Shoe Company in 1982.

Peggy was a communicant of St. Anne's Catholic Church in Dexter. She was a member of St. Anne's Ladies Guild and the Golden Age Club. Peggy was an avid reader, bingo player, and enjoyed knitting, crocheting, as well as puzzle making. Prayerful and faith filled, she especially enjoyed her collection of angels.

She is survived by a sister, Imelda "Millie" Violette of Corinna; several nieces and nephews.

Peggy was predeceased by her husband John, sisters Artheline Gilbert, Doris Darling, Jeannette Votour and Geraldine Lambert.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 AM Monday, May 17th, at St. Anne's Church, Free Street, Dexter, with Father Mark Nolette officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Dexter.

Special thanks are extended to all those at Sebasticook Valley Health Care Facility who provided Peggy with such loving care. Memorial donations may be made to St. Anne's Church, P. O. Box 193, Dexter, ME 04930.
