REV. MARGUERITE I. WATSON
During the next nine years she assisted in Pentecostal churches in Sussex and Riverside, New Brunswick, and later co-pastored with Evelyn Lewis at the Pentecostal church, Hatfield Point. She returned to Maine where she worked in Child Evangelism and co-pastored with Norma Wilson at Full Gospel Assembly, Littleton. June 1947 found her on a freighter bound for Africa, where she spent twenty-five years in Rhodesia, now Zimbabwe, and nearly three years in South Africa, ministering with African people, and assisting friends briefly in South Africa. Due to her failing health, it became necessary for her to take early retirement from the mission field. After returning from Africa, Marguerite spent a few years caring for the elderly, and then settled in Bangor, where she became a member of the Christian Women’s Club and hosted a Prayer Coffee program. She did some mentoring and also was involved in one-on-one ministry. She attended Glad Tidings Church of Bangor. She was a member of the Full Gospel Ministerial Fellowship, and was a member of the Caribou Assembly of God. She is survived by two sisters and one brother; Avis Wilson of Stetson, Harriet Adams of Jay, and Paul Watson of Largo, Florida; 38 nieces and nephews. Marguerite was pre-deceased by her parents and three brothers: Raymond, Frederick and Glendel, and one sister, Vera Russell. She will be sorely missed by many friends in South Africa with whom she kept in touch over the years, and by Elena Phillips, a dear friend from Glad Tidings Church. A Celebration of Life service will be held 2 PM Wednesday, November 7, at Glad Tidings Church, 1033 Broadway, Bangor with the Rev. Ron Morris officiating. Family and friends may call from 1 P.M. until the time of services. Interment will be at Waugh Cemetery, Levant. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Zion Bible College, 27 Middle Highway, Barrington, R.I. 02806 or Phillips-Strickland House, 21 Boyd St, Bangor, ME 04401. Funeral arrangements are by Crosby & Neal, 117 Main Street, Newport. Those who wish may sign an on-line register at www.CrosbyNeal.com.
