MARIE (McCREADY) BLAKE
Marie Blake HERMON - Marie (McCready) Blake, 31, beloved wife of Chad Blake and devoted mother of 6-year old, Mariah died Friday, Aug. 13, 2004, at home in Hermon surrounded by loved ones. She was born in Bangor Sept. 5, 1972, the daughter of Stephen D. and Linda (Pomeroy) McCready. For more than four years, Marie's family and friends marveled at her courage in battling cancer. While in high school, Marie was an avid soccer player winning special awards for aggressiveness. She lived out the last years of her life very much the way she played soccer - with brave determination, tenacity and spunk. She will be remembered for her quick and ready smile her boundless energy and love of life. Marie leaves behind a legacy for all, particularly her treasured daughter, Mariah: In the spirit of the "little engine that could," she has taught all of us to never, ever give up. Marie graduated from Hermon High School, Class of 1991.

In addition to her husband and daughter, Marie is survived by her father and mother, Stephen and Susan McCready of Hermon; her mother, Linda Brooks of Bangor; three sisters, Meagan McCready of Hermon, Flora Brown of North Carolina, Monica Wright of Cape Cod; two brothers, James Cooper and Kevin Cooper of Bangor; father and mother-in-law, Frank and Susan Blake of Beech Hill Pond; brother-in-law, Benjie Blake of Rockland; paternal grandmother, Elaine McCready of Boothbay Harbor; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. She will be remembered by three special friends, Chris Lackedy, Laurie Keezer and Clyde Cowan. Marie and her family extend a special thank you to doctors, nurses and staff at CancerCare of Maine.

Relatives and friends may call 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Foley Funeral Service, 299 Union St., Bangor. A graveside committal service will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday at Snows Corner Cemetery, Hermon, with Pastor Fred Dickinson of the East Bangor Community Church officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to a trust fund which has been established for her daughter, Mariah. Donations may be sent to People's Bank, 508 Wilson St., Brewer, ME 04412 or may be left at the funeral home.
