MARJORIE (WELCH) BURPEE
HERMON - Marjorie A. (Welch) Burpee, 62, died unexpectedly Jan. 14, 2007, at a Bangor hospital. She was born June 28, 1944, in Dexter, the daughter of Henry G. and Dorothea (Stackpole) Welch. She was educated in Newport schools, attended Newport High School and received her diploma from Hermon High School. She also graduated from Beal College, Bangor. For many years she was employed as a packer at several Bangor shoe shops. At the time of her death she was employed in the shipping department at Automatic Distributors, Bangor. Marjorie enjoyed reading murder mysteries and sewing. She also liked to hunt, fish, go four-wheeling and go to camp in Rockwood. She was able to shoot a moose in the 1995 moose season.

She is survived by her life partner of 41 years, Curley Braley of Hermon; three daughters, Darlene and her husband, Jim Bell, of Hermon, Laurie and her husband, Fred Thayer, of Hudson and Debbie Braley and her companion, Dennis Sweden, of Hermon; one son, Jerry Braley and his partner, Nancy Ryan, of Kenduskeag; a daughter-in-law, Paula Braley of Lee; three sisters and their husbands, Christine and Ed Morancie of Pittsfield, Rose and Richard Neal of Palmyra and Penney and Scott Bennett of Stafford Springs, Conn.; 10 grandchildren, Bridgett, Patrick, Michael, Megan, Stephanie, Matt, TJ, Robbie, Jeb and Kayla; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. One special little girl, Hannah, and many special friends will also remember her. She was predeceased by her parents; a son, Tommy M. Braley; and a grandson, Christopher Braley.

Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 17, at the Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Service Center, 34 High St., Newport, where funeral services will be conducted 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 18, with Pastor Al Worden officiating.
