OBITUARIES

MARK S. ANDERSON
HARTLAND – Mark S. Anderson, 57, passed away after a long illness Sunday, March 19, 2006 at a Pittsfield hospital surrounded by his family. He was born March 28, 1948 in Ashland a son of Harley and Eugena (Howes) Anderson. Mark was a graduate of Maine Central Institute, Class of 1967, and graduated from Everett Community College in Everett, Washington. He was a Vietnam veteran having served in the U. S. Army. After completing his military service he married the former Laurel Hughes on September 12, 1970. They moved to Washington state where Mark attended photography school. After graduation, they toured Alaska and moved back to Maine. Mark was employed at Stevens Studio and Adams Russell in Bangor. He and Laurel moved to Hartland and built their home on Great Moose Pond. At the time of his death, Mark was employed by the Town of Hartland. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing.

In addition to his wife of 35 years, he is survived by 2 sons, Hunter Anderson of Hartland, Justin Anderson and wife Emily, and their daughter Kaylee Jean of Troy; 3 sisters, Natalie McFarland and husband Wellman of Bucksport, Donna Anderson of Punta Gorda, Florida, Gayle Manning of East Longmeadow, Massachusetts; a brother David Anderson and companion Sandy of Powell, Tennessee; and many other family members who loved him dearly. Mark was predeceased by his parents and a sister, Beverly Prevost.

A memorial service will be held 1 P.M. Thursday, March 23rd, at Crosby & Neal, 117 Main Street, Newport, with the Rev. William Johnson officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Town of Hartland for the Mark Anderson Trust Fund, the proceeds of which will be used to pay for hunter safety courses for underprivileged children.
