MAX E. PLACE
MILO - Max E. Place, 93, husband of the late Flora K. Place, died Aug. 14, 2002, at a Dover-Foxcroft nursing home. He was born Jan. 2, 1909, in Atkinson, the son of Willard B. and Minnie Anna (Eddy) Place. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran, serving with the Second Military Railway Service. Max had been employed by the B&A Railroad for many years. He was a member of the United Baptist Church of Milo, a member and past commander of the J.P. Chaisson American Legion Post No. 41, a member and past master of Piscataquis Lodge No. 44 AF & AM, a member of the Royal Arch Chapter, the Council Royal and Select Masters, Commandery Knights Templar, Red Cross of Constantine, Rosicrucians, York Rite College, Scottish Rites (32nd Degree) and a member and past master of OES. He is survived by a niece, Eleanor Braunmuller of Basking Ridge, N.J. and Waterville; a stepdaughter, Madeline Wing of Kingston, R.I.; a stepson, Richard Peavey of Garland, Texas; four stepgrandchildren; two great-stepgrandchildren; a stepniece, Dorothy Scott of Connecticut; many grand and great-grand nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife, Anne (Dwyer) Place in 1987; and three sisters, Pearl Day, Francia Place, and Ethelyn Smart. Memorial services will be announced at a later date. Burial will be in the family lot in Evergreen Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care of the Lary Funeral Home.
