MILDRED (MacDOUGALL) TUFTS
STETSON – Mildred (MacDougall) Tufts, 85, died March 12, 2003 at a Pittsfield hospital. She was born October 23, 1917 at Gladwyn, New Brunswick, Canada, a daughter of Abram and Annie (Caldwell) MacDougall. She became a naturalized U. S. citizen in 1956. She was a member of the Stetson Ladies Aid, and the Stetson Union Church, where she was a longtime Sunday School teacher. She was also a member of the Rural Letter Carriers Auxiliary. She had worked at several area canning companies and was also a cook at the Stetson school department. A devout Christian, Mildred’s favorite Bible verse was Micah 6:8: “He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.”

She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Thomas Tufts of Stetson, 3 children, Elizabeth and husband Kurt Davis of Dixmont, Mary and husband Dennis Annett of Stetson, Thomas E. and wife Mary Tufts of Stetson; 5 grand-daughters, Tracey Dearborn, Christina Barnes, Courtney Dearborn, Jolene Weeks, and Amanda Sibley; 5 great grandchildren, Bryce, Paige, Hannah, Hunter, and Matthew; many nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Alice Flynn. She was predeceased by 5 sisters and 2 brothers.

There will be no public visitation at Mildred’s request. A spring graveside funeral service will be held 2 P.M. Friday, May 9th, at the family lot, Clark’s Hill Cemetery, Stetson. Memorial donations may be made to the Stetson Historical Society, c/o Mrs. Julie Brownie, Treasurer, 257 Stetson Road, Stetson, ME 04488; or the Stetson Ladies Aid, c/o Mrs. Theresa Gray, P.O.
