MURIEL I. SIMPSON
CORINNA - Muriel Irene Simpson, 81, died Oct. 1, 2006, with her loving family by her side at Hibbards Nursing Home, Dover-Foxcroft. She was born Dec. 16, 1924, in Garland, the daughter of Harold and Elsie (Smith) French. Muriel attended school in Garland, where she lived with her grandparents, Eugene and Maude French. After graduating from school, Muriel married Roger L. Simpson June 1, 1945 and they were married for 61 years. Muriel was a homemaker, loving mother and an excellent cook, which was her favorite thing to do. A big heartfelt thanks is extended from her family to all the staff at Hibbards who had a hand in caring for Muriel, she loved each of you dearly.

Surviving, in addition to her husband, Roger of Corinna, are her children, Alice M. Duthie of Charleston, Althea M. Wyman and her husband, Tom, of Biddeford and Ronald H. Simpson and his wife, Julie "Beth," of Corinna; a brother, John French and his wife, Charlene, of Dover-Foxcroft; a sister, Rachel Watson and her husband, Steven, of Levant; six grandchildren, Deborah Duthie, Amy Webster, Adam Wyman, Sarrah, Samantha and Ronald "RJ" Simpson Jr.; two great-grandchildren, Katie Duthie-Neal and Colby Webster; and many nieces and nephews; also special friends, Ann and Elmer Zimmerman. Muriel was predeceased by a sister, Mildred Libby.

In keeping with Muriel's request, a graveside memorial services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, at Corinna Center Cemetery with the Rev. Edward Jaworski officiating. After the service, there will be a gathering at Ron's to celebrate Muriel's life with the things that she loved, good food, good conversation and time with family and friends. Cremation and memorial service arrangements are by the Thompson Funeral Home, 30 St. Albans Road, Corinna.
