OBITUARIES

PHILIP W. KNIGHT
Philip W. Knight MONSON, Philip W. Knight, 79, died December 27, 2004, at his home in Monson. He was born October 4, 1925, the son of Amos and Lillian (Howard) Knight. In his younger years Phil worked for the Monson Narrow Gauge Railroad and at the slate quarries in Monson. During WWII, he served in the US Navy. After the war, Phil worked for Moosehead Manufacturing Company in Monson for over 30 years. After retiring from Moosehead Manufacturing, he worked at the visitor center at Borestone Mountain. He was a Past Master of the Doric Lodge in Monson and a member of the Columbia Doric Lodge in Greenville. He was a Boy Scout leader, a member of the Monson Baptist Church, and a member of the Monson Historical Society. During the Big Band Era, Phil played in several of the local bands.

He is survived by his wife, Bunny (Robinson) Knight of Monson; 2 sons, Scott Knight and his wife, Lisa, of Abbot and Peter Knight of Monson and his friend, Marnie Lamson, of Dover-Foxcroft; 2 daughters and their husbands, Marcia and Ed Martin of Monson and Cori and Bob Todd of Monson; a sister and her husband, Dorothy and Dr. Philip Thomas of Bangor; 6 grandchildren, Nathan, Farren, Leslie, Brittany, Aaron, and Emily; several nieces and nephews; a cousin and her husband, Iris and Arthur Freeman of Bangor.

Friends may call 6-8 PM Thursday, December 30, 2004, at the Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 21 Oak Street in Guilford, where a Masonic service will be held at 7:00 PM. Memorial services will be held at 1:00 PM Friday at the Monson Community Church, with Pastor David Ray Jr. officiating.

Spring burial will be in the Hillside Cemetery in Monson. Those who wish, may make donations in his memory to the Monson First Responders, P.O. Box 308, Monson, ME 04464.
