REXFORD R. "REX" TURNER
WILLIMANTIC, Rexford R. “Rex” Turner, Sr. 88, died August 21, 2005, at the CA Dean Hospital in Greenville. He was born May 16, 1917, in Willimantic, a son of Ora and Gladys (Patterson) Turner. Rex served the town of Willimantic as tax collector and town treasurer for 46 years. He worked in the slate quarry in Willimantic and later for Moosehead ManufacturingCompany for many years. He was well known for his garden and always shared the produce with his friends and family.

He is survived by 3 sons, Valentine "Keezy" and his wife Frances Turner of Monson, Rexford Jr. "Pee Wee" and his wife Evelyn Turner of Guilford, Lynwood "Timmy" Turner and special friend Madeline Douglass of Willimantic; 2 daughters and their husbands, Jackie and George Gorey of Willimantic, and Beverly and Martin Duplessis of Mass.; many very special grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; 3 half-brothers, Walter White of Jefferson, Ellery Turner and George Turner of Peru; many special nieces and nephews; special friend, Kathryn Green of Willimantic.

He was predeceased by his wife of 66 years, Violet (Leighton) Turner, a son David Turner, a brother, Clarence “Tad” Turner, a half-sister, Evangeline White, and a niece whom they raised, Mary Frances Leighton.

Friends may call Thursday, August 25th, from 6 to 8 PM at the Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 21 Oak Street in Guilford. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, August 26th at the funeral home with Pastor Lloyd Rozelle officiating. Burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery in Willimantic.
