Richard A. Billings After serving his country in the US Army, he worked at Merrill Transport in Portland as a driver. In 1976 he moved to the Rockwood area and worked for Scott Paper company, retiring in 1992. From 1992 until 2012 he worked at the Birches Resort in Rockwood. He was an avid snowmobiler, winter being his favorite season. Dick enjoyed his annual snowmobile trips around the Gaspésie Peninsula. He is survived by his wife, Catherine (Ladd) Billings of Rockwood; 3 sisters and their husbands, Virginia and Donald Aubin of FL, Lois and Darryel Boulware of CT, and Leatrice and Bill Graham of CO; a brother, Jerry Stevens and his companion, Linda Stevens of Lisbon; a stepson, Loring Strout of Howland; a stepdaughter, Kim Thurston of So. Paris; several nieces and nephews. A memorial service with military honors will be held 1 PM, Monday, March 26, 2012, at the Greenville Chapel of Crosby & Neal, at the Masonic Building in Greenville, with Pastor Marilyn Rohdin officiating.
