OBITUARIES

RICHARD A. MICHAUD
Richard A. Michaud NEWPORT & CORINNA – Richard A. Michaud, 86, died at home in Newport attended by his family. He was born in Wallagrass July 18, 1921 a son of Laurent and Isabelle (Corbin) Michaud. He graduated from Bradford High School, Class of 1941. Dick served in the U. S. Army Air Corps during World War II in Europe under the command of General Eisenhower. He married Charlotte “Ann” Buckland on June 26, 1948 at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Dexter. He worked as the steam boiler operator for Guilford Woolen Mill and Eastland Woolen Mill in Corinna for many years. Richard retired in 1992 but continued to be active with his vegetable garden. He was a faithful communicant of St. Agnes Catholic Church in Pittsfield, a member of the Cardinal Mercier Council 2625 Knights of Columbus and American Legion Post #73 in Corinna.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Ann of Newport; 2 daughters, Judith Cruickshank of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Jayne Field and husband John of Bangor; and a son, Peter R. Michaud of Newburgh; a granddaughter, Katie Ann Randall and her boyfriend Aaron Rideout of Portland; Katie’s father Frank Randall and wife Christine of Pittsfield; a brother in law, Eugene Jarvis of Bethel; and his nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sisters Dora Parsons and Rena Jarvis, his brother Neil Michaud, his brother in law, Erlon Parsons, sister-in-law, Shirley (Mansel) Michaud and son-in-law, Frank Cruickshank, MD. Richard will be fondly remembered by his two brothers in law, William A. “T-Bob” Buckland and his companion Christine Kelley and John Buckland and his wife Millie, all of Newport. Last but not least, he will be missed by his old gray cat and chair companion, Dukie.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 PM Friday at Crosby & Neal, 117 Main Street, Newport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 AM Saturday, December 29th at St. Agnes Church, 50 Detroit Avenue, Pittsfield, with the Rev. Father James Robichaud officiating. Spring burial will be in the Pittsfield Village Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in his memory to St. Agnes Church, 50 Detroit Avenue, Pittsfield, ME 04967. A spring graveside committal service for Richard “Dick” Michaud, who died December 24, 2007, will be held 11 AM Friday, May 16th at Pittsfield Village Cemetery with the Rev. Fr. James Robichaud officiating. Following the service a reception will be held at the family home, 32 Nokomis Way, Newport. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal, Newport.
