OBITUARIES

ROBERT M. SAWYER
veteran MONSON, Robert M. Sawyer, 88, died February 18, 2007, at C.A. Dean Nursing Home in Greenville. He was born February 3, 1919, in Linneus, son of Guy and Olive (Murchie) Sawyer. He served in the Civilian Conservation Corp 1937-1939, and the U. S. Army 1942-1945, serving 20 months in European Theater as an Anti-aircraft Artillery Automatic Weapons Crewman.

He worked many years at Monson Slate Quarry, and was one of the workers that manufactured John F. Kennedy’s headstone. He is survived by a daughter, Teresa York and her partner, Joseph LeClair of Monson; 2 sons, Robert G. Sawyer and his wife, Joan of Dexter, and Thomas Sawyer and his partner, Joelle Palmer of Greenville Jct.; 2 sisters, Gertrude Lake of Houlton, and Jacqueline Ellett of Missouri; a brother, Eugene Sawyer of Presque Isle; 6 grandchildren; several great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Friends may call 6 to 8 PM, Tuesday, February 20, 2007, at Crosby & Neal, 21 Oak St., in Guilford. Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM, Wednesday, at the funeral home with Pastor Tom Kirkman officiating. Spring burial will be in the Lakeroad Cemetery in Monson.
