ROWENA (ASHE) FIELD
DETROIT – Rowena (Ashe) Field, 88, died November 7, 2000 at a Bangor hospital. She was born May 20, 1912 at Greenbush the daughter of J. Vinal and Kate (Brown) Ashe. She graduated from the Brunswick School of Nursing, Class of 1932, and Boston City Hospital School of Nursing. She served the community in area hospitals for many Years and had owned and operated Sanfield Nursing Home in Hartland for a number of Years. She retired in 1984. She was a member of the R.N. Club in Pittsfield, and a lifelong member of the Good Cheer Club in Detroit.

She was predeceased by her husband, Herbert M. Field, a stepson, Clair W. Field, special nephews, Andrew R. Sanborn and Roger H. Speer. Known as “Polly” to her many friends and family Members, she is survived by 2 sons, Drew H. Field of Dallas, TX, and Mark A. Field of Lake Worth, FL; special family members, niece Mrs. Edward (Marie) Towne of Newport, grand nephew, Terry, and wife Raelene Towne of Fort Hugart, AL, nephew Robert V. Ashe and niece Katherine D. Ashe of Skowhegan, nephew Norris and His wife Katherine Ashe, Jr. of Phoenix, AZ, cousin Ruth (Brown) Hewett of Windsor, VT, nephew Douglas I. Fernald of Detroit, sisters in law, Doris (Norris) Ashe of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Anna (George) FieldFernald of Detroit, and Mildred (Dan) Field of Augusta, as well as many caring neighbors and friends.

Friends may call from 7-9 PM Thursday, November 9th, at Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 64 Main Street, Newport. A graveside committal service will be held 1 P.M. Friday, November 10th,at the family lot, Detroit Village Cemetery, with the Rev. Marriott Churchill officiating.
