RUTH E. HOBART
BLANCHARD - Ruth E. Hobart, 90, wife of the late Paul E. Hobart, died Aug. 23, 2004, at a Dover-Foxcroft boarding home. She was born May 11, 1914, in Reading, Mass., the daughter of Joseph and Alice (MacMonagle) Thorn. Ruth was a life member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a member of the next highest order, the White Shrine, and served as their Worthy High Priestess from 1952-1953, a position she was always very proud of. For many years, Ruth was very active in Blanchard town government. Mrs. Hobart was predeceased by her husband, Paul; her son, Paul Hobart Jr., and her sister, Dorothy Foster.

She is survived by a daughter-in-law, L. Elvira Hobart of Blanchard; a sister, Barbara Wilson and her husband, John, of Zephyrhills, Fla.; a sister-in-law, Ethel Holt of Kensington, N.H.; four grandchildren, Stephen Hobart and his wife, Diana, of Blanchard, Mary Ann Sweet and her husband, Dennis, of Troy, N.H., Bonnie Hobart of Montreal, Rick Hobart and his wife, Cathy, of Texas; 12 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Priscilla Schweizer of Kensington, N.H.

Graveside memorial services will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 5, 2004, at the family lot in Blanchard Cemetery, with the Rev. Kenneth Dale officiating. Following the service, family and friends are invited to Steve and Diana's home for a time of fellowship and sharing. Arrangements are in the care of the Lary Funeral Home.
