SAMUEL GOODRIDGE, JR.
ABBOT, Samuel Goodridge Jr., 76, died May 12, 2003 at a Waterville hospital. He was born January 17, 1927, in Parkman, son of Samuel Budden and Priscilla (Perkins) Goodridge Sr. He enjoyed hunting and trapping and at the age of 18, Sam enlisted in the US Army serving in Japan until receiving an honorable discharge in 1946. He owned and operated Sam’s Service Station until 1977 and was the Boy Scout leader in town for several years. He later worked for Moosehead Manufacturing Company in Monson as a boiler man and night watchman until his retirement. He was very active in the Connor Trafton American Legion Post #119 in Guilford and was a member of the Forty and Eight. He was a charter member of the Abbot Historical Society, and was the Civil Defense officer for the Town of Abbot for many years.

Sam will be greatly missed by his wife of 42 years, Elsie Goodridge of Abbot, a son Samuel Goodridge and his companion Donna Steeves and her grandson, TJ; a daughter Cynthia Fortier and her husband, Ross and their children, Samantha and Jonathan all of Abbot; 3 stepchildren, Clarice Sinclair of Florida and her children, Phillip Foss, Scott and his wife, Linda Foss, Lisa and her husband, Tommy Perry, Michael and his wife, Lori Foss; Reginald Sandberg and his wife Janet of Washington and his children, Timothy, Ernie, Kevin, Kathy Babski and her husband, John and her children, Jennifer Dell’Olio and her husband, Mark, Nicholas Crocker and his wife, Amber and their son, Caleb; a sister, Betsy Allen and her husband, John of Cal.; special niece, Mary-Ann Bessey; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He will also be sadly missed by his friends at Trafton’s Store. He was predeceased by his parents and a sister, Edna Orff.

Friends may call 6-8 PM Wednesday May 14, 2003 at the Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 21 Oak St., Guilford. Funeral services will be held at 1 PM Thursday at the funeral home with burial at the Blanchard Cemetery in Abbot.
