SEWALL "LES" MOODY
veteranGUILFORD, Sewall “Les” Moody, 92, husband of Katherine S. Moody, died June 21, 2002, at a Dover-Foxcroft hospital. He was born December 4, 1909, in Yonkers, N.Y., the son of Sewall L. and Flora (Smith) Moody. He graduated from Guilford High School, class of 1930 and attended Boston University, College of Business Administration, from 1930 to 1934. He was a WWII Veteran, having served with the 41st Infantry Division in New Guinea. Prior to entering the service he was employed by John Scales & Sons, Draper Corp., and Guilford Industries. Les was Guilford Postmaster from August 1953 to June 1973. He was an active member of the Guilford United Methodist Church, and served as church treasurer for 12 years. He was a trustee and treasurer of the Guilford Memorial Library for several years. He was also a member of the American Legion, the Disabled American Veterans, treasurer and president of the Guilford Historical Society and was one of the founders of the Little Miracles Pre-School.

He is survived by his wife, of Guilford; a niece and 2 nephews.

At his request, there will be no public visiting hours. Graveside services will be held at 3 PM Monday June 24 at the Elmwood Cemetery in Guilford with the Rev. Dr. John Grenfel officiating. In lieu of flowers friends may make donations in his memory to the Guilford Memorial Library. Arrangements by Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, Guilford.
