SPENCER E. LARSEN He spent most of his early life in California. Spence enlisted in the U. S. Army in 1943 and spent time in France during World War II. He married his first wife, Janet Middleton, on September 7, 1953, and they had 2 children, Steven Larsen (and his wife Janice Larsen) of Florida and Linda Larsen of California. Spence worked at McDonnell Douglas in Long Beach, CA, where he met Grace. They were married at the Brewster Inn in Dexter, Maine. They both returned to California to continue working and later retired after 25 years. In addition to his son and daughter, Spence is survived by 2 brothers, Wesley Larsen and his wife Beverly of Downey, CA and Alvin and his wife Miriam of Salt Lake City, Utah. He also leaves behind his daughter Debra Lovley and husband Gregory of Newport, 2 sons, Scott Hudson and his wife Lynn of Plymouth, and David Hudson of Pittsfield; grandson, Jason Lovley and his wife Kim of Carmel; granddaughter, Breeanna Lovley of Lake Worth, FL; 3 great grandchildren, Noah Matthew Lovley, Nicholas James Lovley and Ava Grace Lovley, all of Carmel; a very special granddaughter, Jackie Cook of Stetson; grandson, Christian Gregory Brown of Hartland; granddaughter Amy Butts and her husband Donald and their 2 children, Drew and Isaac, all of Carmel; many nieces, nephews, and loving friends. He was predeceased by his brother, Franklin Larsen who passed away February 26, 1928 at the age of ten. The family wishes to thank Sid and Carol Gray for all their love and support, and for standing by Spencer everyday until his passing. In accordance with his wishes, private visitation will be held at Crosby & Neal, Newport. Spring military committal and graveside services will be held at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Dexter, with Pastor Al H. Worden and the honor guard from Ft. Devens, MA officiating. Spence and his wife Grace will be laid to rest side by side at 10 AM, Saturday, May 10th. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Newport Cultural Center, 23 Water Street, Newport, ME 04953. A very special thanks goes out to “MOUTHY”. No names we all know!!!! L.O.L. Graveside committal services for Grace Larsen, who died January 5, 2008, and Spencer Larsen, who died February 28, 2008, will be held 10 AM, Saturday, May 10th, at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Dexter, with Pastor Al H. Worden officiating. An Army honor guard from Ft. Devens will conclude the service with a military committal service honoring Spence's service during World War II. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal, Newport.
