SYBIL W. LEONARD
LEWISTON & DEXTER - Sybil W. Leonard, 76, of 1015 Sabattus Street, Lewiston, formerly of Dexter, died Friday, April 27, 2001 at her home following a long illness. She was born July 8, 1924 at Dexter. Educated in Dexter schools and the Northern Conservatory of Music in Bangor, music was Sybil’s life. She served as director of music at the Hermon Schools from 1965 until 1975. After retiring, she was involved with several community Bands, private teaching, and active in church groups in both Dexter and Lewiston.

She was predeceased by her parents, Harold and Sybil Hatch of Dexter, 2 husbands, the Rev. Andrew C. K. Richards and Lawrence A. Leonard, and a son, Andrew David Richards. She is survived by 3 daughters, Sybil Gutman and her partner Cliff Gwenter of Butler, NJ, Andrea Sargent and husband Guy of Dexter, Lynn Wakefield and her husband Chris of Lewiston; three grandchildren, Lori Mulvaney of Butler, NJ, Aaron Sargent and his fiancé Kristi Kellison, stationed at the North Pole, Alaska, and Andrew Sargent of Dexter; 2 step-children, Carolyn Edgecomb and husband Steven, William Leonard and wife Cindy; five step-grandchildren, Steven Edgecomb, Jr., and wife Julie, Paula Cote and husband Lance, Paul Leonard and wife Demi, Michael Leonard and David Leonard; 2 step great-grandchildren, Jacob Cote and Alexis Leonard; a step-nephew, James Leonard and wife Lorraine of Hampden; and a dear longtime friend, Glenna Rush.

Funeral services will be held 2 PM Monday, April 30th, at Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 61 Main Street, Dexter, where friends may call from 1 PM until the time of services. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Hermon. Memorial donations may be made to Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice Foundation, 15 Strawberry Avenue, Lewiston, ME 04243; or the American Lung Association, 122 State Street, Augusta, ME 04330.
