THOMAS E. LYFORD
GREENVILLE - Thomas E. Lyford, 58, husband of the late Jean (St. Georges) Lyford, died May 11, 2001, at a Dover-Foxcroft nursing facility after a courageous battle with lung cancer. He was born Dec. 28, 1942, in Dover-Foxcroft, the son of Edwin B. and Pauline (McSorley) Lyford Jr. A U.S. Navy veteran, Tom and his family had lived in Franklin, Conn., where he had been employed as an environmental technician for Pfizer Pharmaceuticals. After his retirement in 1997, he had moved to Greenville.

He is survived by his mother, Pauline Lyford of Dover-Foxcroft; a son, John T. Lyford of Turner Falls, Mass.; a brother, Richard E. Lyford and his wife, Mary Ann of Nokomis, Fla.; a sister, Donna (Lyford) Crane and her husband, Vernon R. of Dexter; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Jean, in 1997.

Graveside funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 15, 2001, at Maplewood Cemetery, Norwich, Conn. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Fellowship Hall, P.O. Box 6929, Greensboro, NC 27405. Local arrangements are in the care of the Lary Funeral Home.
