VELMA M. JOHNSON Velma was a Sunday School teacher, youth group leader, VBS teacher, and Good News Club leader for many years in Hartland. She enjoyed yard sales, family gatherings, and friend's visits. She also enjoyed purchasing homes and remodeling them, auctions and antiquing. Her role as mother and grandmother were very important to her. She enjoyed singing gospel hymns, and playing them on the piano and organ. She enjoyed doing merchant and automotive booking. She earned 3 GMC automotive booking awards, while working at Brother's Chevrolet in Dover-Foxcroft. She was a self employed antique dealer, and was an eBay power seller. Also, while living in Dexter she was known as "the voter". She is survived by a daughter, Sheila Braley, of Dover-Foxcroft, and her 2 children, Bridget Braley of Abbot, and Jeb Braley of Dover-Foxcroft; a daughter, Deborah Kells and her husband, Paul of Corinna, and their 3 children, Paul Jr. of Stetson, Tami of MD, and Karrie of Corinna; a son, John R. Johnson and his wife, Janet from Missouri, and their children, Rebecca Curtis and her husband, Michael of Pembroke, Laureh Johnson and twin grandsons, David and Daniel Johnson, all of Rockland; close cousins, Patricia Post and Judy Gursting, both of PA; a sister-in-law and her husband, Barbara and Paul Herrick of Dover-Foxcroft; and many great grandchildren. She will be also remembered by special friends, Gary and Kit Downs of Dover-Foxcroft, Mary and Bert Hutchins of Dexter, Ethel Pare and Arthur Webb of Dover-Foxcroft, and Cathy Fox of Old Town. She was predeceased by her husband, John W. Johnson in 1993. Family and friends are invited to a gathering in her memory, 1 PM, Saturday, December 11, 2010, at the Pleasant Street Christian Church in Corinna. Cremation arrangements by Crosby & Neal, Guilford.
