VERNON M. DRAKE
WELLINGTON – Vernon M. Drake, 82, died March 25, 2004 at a Skowhegan hospital. He was born May 15, 1921 at Kingsbury a son of Manley C. and Edna R. (Day) Drake. Vernon was a World War II veteran serving in the Asiatic Pacific theater. He married Mona Trafton on November 2, 1947. She predeceased him April 28, 1991. He had been a woodsman for most of his working life, but retired as a self employed automobile mechanic.

He is survived by his children, Darlene and husband Vaughn Bussell of Wellington, Charlene and husband Robert Rowell of Cornville, Beverly and Bruce Raymond of Skowhegan, Bonnie and husband Ron Rockwell of Cambridge, a son David and wife Linda Drake of Cornville; 15 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

At his request there will be no viewing. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Wellington Volunteer Fire Department, c/o Mr. Roger Ricker, 1 Carle Road, Wellington, ME 04942. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 61 Main Street, Dexter.

A graveside committal service will be held 1 PM Wednesday, May 12th, at the North Road Cemetery, Harmony. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, Dexter.
