VIRA W. SHAW
PALMYRA – Vira W. Shaw, 83, died April 24, 2003 at her Wyman Road residence. She was born July 10, 1919 at Winter Harbor a daughter of Lester and Leona (Stover) Bowden. She was married to Lionel H. Shaw, who passed away on December 21, 1995. Vira was a past member and officer in the Waterville chapter of the Salvation Army. She will also be remembered as an avid beano player.

She is survived by 3 children, Lester and wife Juanita Shaw, Robert and wife Wealthy Shaw, Gloria and husband Robert Lunt, all of Palmyra; a brother Aloysius “Binky” Ferrier and wife Alice of Lynn, MA; 2 sisters, Geraldine and husband James Gatchell of Lynn, MA, and Wanda Lisk of Salem, MA; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, and nices and nephews; as well as a dear friend Myrna Cowen. She was predeceased by a daughter Charlotte, and 2 sons, Paul and Don.

There will be no services at this time. A graveside committal service will be held at the family lot, Palmyra Village Cemetery, later in the spring. Memorial donations may be made in her memory to the American Heart Association, c/o Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 117 Main Street, Newport, ME 04953.
