Vivian S. Mason
NEWPORT- Vivian S. Mason, 94, died October 5, 2012, at Hibbard Nursing Home in Dover-Foxcroft. She was born July 16, 1918, in Charleston, daughter of Fred and Hazel (Whalen) Mitchell.

Vivian was very active in local affairs and was involved with the H.G. Libby National Relief Corps., Sebasticook Ladies Club, Rebekah’s, Grange, and various horse and pony clubs. She loved playing cards and listening to her LP’s.

She was predeceased by her husband, Lester Mason; and 2 sisters, Verna Mitchell, and Virginia Hibbard.

She is survived by 2 sons, Dr. Peter C. Mason of Newport, and Fredric Sigrist and his wife, Ruth of Londonderry, NH; grandsons, Peter A. Mason of Philadelphia, PA, Richard Sigrist of Concord, NH, Joel Sigrist of Weare, NH, and Russell Sigrist of MA.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 AM, Tuesday, October 9, 2012 at Crosby & Neal, 117 Main Street in Newport, with Pastor Al Worden officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10:30 AM, until the time of the service. Burial will be in the Corinthian Cemetery in Corinth.

Vivian loved animals and requested that in lieu of flowers memorial donations be sent to the Bangor Humane Society, 693 Mt. Hope Avenue, Bangor, ME 04401.
