VIVIAN WRIGHT SMITH
PITTSFIELD—Vivian Wright Smith, 98, went home to be with the Lord Thursday afternoon, November 2, 2006, at a Pittsfield health care facility, where she had been a resident for many years. She was born May 5, 1908 in New Brunswick, Canada, the daughter of Joseph and Nellie Ritchie.

In 1924, she married Basil Wright and they lived in Pittsfield for most of their married life. Vivian worked in several Pittsfield area businesses, including the former Dysart’s Store and the United Store, now known as Reny’s, where she worked until her retirement. She loved to bake for her grandchildren and was well known as “Nana Wright”.

She was a pastor’s wife. She and her husband started the first Pentecostal church in Pittsfield, now known as Deeper Life Assembly, of which she was a member.

She is survived by a daughter, Kathleen Murphy of Pittsfield; a son and his wife, Milton and Alice Wright of Augusta; 12 grandchildren; and many great grandchildren. Vivian was predeceased by her husband in 1973; 3 grandsons, Berry Wright, Dennis Wright and Richard Murphy; and a granddaughter, Marilyn Melanson.

A private family visitation and committal prayers will be held Tuesday at Crosby & Neal, 117 Main Street, Newport. Burial will be in the Pittsfield Village Cemetery.
