Wendell Kenneth Braley
NEWPORT – Wendell Kenneth Braley, 84, died unexpectedly September 5, 2013 at his residence. He was born July 26, 1929 in Chapman, a son of Kenneth and Eveleine (Grendell) Braley. Wendell graduated from Newport High School, Class of 1947, and served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. He worked for Lane Construction Company for 32 years. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and belonged to the Eastern Star and the Masonic Lodge in Hermon. He will be remembered by family and friends as an avid hunter and fisherman. He used to compete with Wilbur Bean each year as to who would catch the most trout. Wendell was a very hardworking, fun loving man, but especially a very loving father and husband.

He is survived by his wife, Marie of Newport; a son, Steven and wife Sandy Braley of Plymouth; 3 daughters, Wendy and husband Chuck Ellsworth of Hampden, Kathie and husband Norman Lawler of Dixmont, Candy and husband Scott Kent of Stetson; 7 grandchildren, Amy, Angela, Sarah, Jayson, Carrie, Carla and Elsie; 7 great grandchildren, Meagan, Molly, Matthew, Wai Sun, Mai Ying, Parker and Selena; many nieces and nephews. Wendell was predeceased by his first wife Norma, a son Carroll, a sister Aldena Savage and a brother Carl.

Graveside committal services will be held at 10 AM Saturday, September 14th, at Sawyer Cemetery, Plymouth, with Pastor Al Worden officiating.

A celebration of life will be held at the Barrows-Skidgel American Legion Post in Newport following the service. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal, Newport. Memorial donations may be made to the Kasey Lander Memorial Fund, c/o Gary Braley, Treasurer, 21 Lake Avenue, Newport, ME 04953.
