WILLIAM A. MURPHY
PITTSFIELD – William A. Murphy, 79, died April 25, 2005 at a Pittsfield hospital. He was born August 13, 1925 at Hermon a son of William and Lillian (Hudson) Murphy, Sr. He graduated from Hermon High School, Class of 1943. After graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving as a tank gunner in France during World War II. On September 22, 1945, he married Kathleen M. Wright. He retired from the Dexter Shoe Company in 1987, but continued to work part time as a janitor at Manson Park School. Bill was a member of Deeper Life Assembly.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Kay Murphy of Pittsfield; 2 sons, Richard of Florida, and Allen and wife Mary Murphy of Milo; 2 daughters, Sandra and husband Henry Carron of Pittsfield, Suzzanne Murphy of Florida; a brother, Dalbert Davis of Hampden; 2 sisters, Florence Getchell of Hampden, Effie Chesties of Portland; 6 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. Thursday, April 28th, at Deeper Life Assembly, Pittsfield, with the Rev. Millard Dickinson officiating. Friends may call from 1 P.M. until the time of services. Burial will be in the family lot, Pittsfield Village Cemetery. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, Newport.
