WILLIAM "BILL" TARRANT
William Tarrant SANGERVILLE, ME AND MIDDLETOWN, CT, William "Bill" Tarrant, 75, died peacefully surrounded by his family, at Togus VA hospital in Augusta, Maine, on April 6, 2005. He was born in Middletown, CT, April 9, 1929. As a young boy, Bill was adopted by Dr. John and Helen Tarrant. As a young man, Bill proudly served his country in the Navy aboard the USS Providence. He worked in maintenance most of his life and he loved his work. Years ago, he worked for SAD #4 in Guilford, Maine and Fitch Senior High School Groton CT. In recent years he managed the maintenance dept. at the Groton Regency in Groton, CT. and was the co-manager of the Rand Lodge rooming house. He and his loving wife, Ruby, managed and lived at Rand for 18 years. Bill and Ruby retired to "their paradise" in Sangerville, Maine in 2000. Everyone loved Bill for his sense of humor, his outgoing personality, and his ability to tell a story. He loved to make people laugh. Bill loved to meet new people and became friends with everyone. Bill was an active member of the congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses in Abbot, Maine. His sense of humor and personality will be sadly missed by his family and everyone who knew him. His older sister Gladys predeceased Bill.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Ruby (Dolphin) Tarrant of Sangerville, his brothers and sisters, Helen Smith, of Needles, CA, Charles Tarrant and his wife Edith, of Richmond, VA, Lenora Frazier of Portland, CT, Marvin Tarrant of Washington, DC, Ronald Tarrant and wife Donna from Groton CT, his children, Alvina Church and her husband Brian from Sangerville, ME, William C. Tarrant Jr. and his wife Cathy from Newbern, NC, Robin Everette and husband Joseph from Colchester, CT, Shirley Smith and her husband Butch from Groton, CT, Harry Cormier and his wife Jeannette from Sangerville, ME, George Cormier and his wife Sandra from Groton CT, Donna Burhman and her husband Lloyd from Corinna, ME, Elizabeth Cormier and her life partner Lisa from Groton Ct., Rebecca Cormier from Portland, ME. and his "adopted daughter" Sherry Lee Giles from Groton, CT. He is also survived by 29 grandchildren,35 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, a special member of the family Steve Bennett, from Abbot, ME, and Bill's first wife, and close family friend, Ethel Fedus from Sangerville, ME.

A memorial service for Bill will be held at the Jehovah's Witness Kingdom Hall on Rt. 15 in Abbot, ME, Sunday at 2:00 pm. Immediately following the memorial, friends and family are invited to gather at the Abbot Town Hall for refreshments. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to his wife Ruby to help with expenses at P.O. Box 95, Guilford ME, 04443. Arrangements by Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, Guilford.
